Residents receive free medical care
Aboitiz Power provided free consultation, medicines and vitamins to Barangay Panangban
ABOUT 300 residents in the mountain barangay of Panangban in Compostela, Cebu received medical attention from Aboitiz Power Corp. (AP), Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and the Cebu II Electrical Cooperative Inc. (CEBECO 2).
AP helped CEBECO 2 conduct a medical mission last Oct. 26 in Panangban, located more than seven kilometers awayfrom the national highway in northern Cebu.
CEBECO 2 tapped the services of two doctors, Victor Bontia and Vincent Echin, to provide free consultation to the residents, who were mostly elderly, children and mothers.
Many of the children who received medical attention suffered coughs and colds while several of the elderly had hypertension.
AP, through the Aboitiz Foundation, also provided free medicines and vitamin supplements to the residents.
AP donated the remaining medicines to the barangay represented by Barangay Captain Bernabe Castro Jr.
The village chief thanked the organizers of the medical mission, saying it is a big help to the barangay whose resources are limited.
Jiselle Marie Juabot, AP Energy Sales corporate social responsibility officer, said the company is glad to help communities in need.
Juabot thanked CEBECO 2 officials for giving AP an opportunity to provide health services to Panangban.
The beneficiary for the activity was identified by CEBECO 2 Board Director James Yuson and Institutional Services Department Manager Mela Zaragosa.
AP is the holding company for the Aboitiz Group’s investments in power generation, distribution and retail elec- tricity services.
The company is one of the largest power producers in the Philippines and owns distribution utilities that operate in high-growth areas in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
