Water provider to set up more stations in ‘17

-

CEBU-based purified water provider Aqua Pure Water Resources Inc. is investing P40 million in 2017 for its planned expansion nationwide.

The expansion, according to Aqua Pure’s chairman and president Antonio Tompar, is buoyed by the growing number of Filipinos entering the water refilling industry.

Tompar said that the vigorous demand for clean potable water has caused exponential growth in the number of water stations. Setting up bulk purified water systems and stations nearer to communities would allow them to serve more clients, he said.

The company usually partners with a landowner to set up the system, deep well and power.

Last year, the company invested P30 million to set up 10 bulk-purified water systems, of which half has already been installed in Bohol, Butuan, Davao and Bulacan. They are eyeing to set up more stations in Sorsogon, Iloilo, Bacolod and Negros. Aqua Pure sells purified water at P3 per cubic meter to water refilling operators.

According to Tompar, their entry into this service has already brought down the price of a five-gallon water container being sold in water refilling stations to an average of P10.

He added that Aqua Pure’s service also helps operators save on costs as they would no longer have to produce their own water but rather haul it directly from Aqua Pure’s bulk water stations.

“We are aggressive in rolling out the system so we could cover more communities and make water accessible to everyone, especially now that even those living in slum areas are drinking purified water,” said Tompar.

“This concept also opens up business opportunities for everyone and makes them realize that there is money in water,” he added.

Aqua Pure is one of the pioneering companies in Cebu to offer purified water for commercial and residential clients. In 2008, the company invested P10 million to expand its production coverage and distribution in Visayas and Mindanao.
