‘Green marshals’ created
Eight-man team to make sure that Naga residents segregate their wastes
Naga City Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong created the green marshals to enforce their new garbage collection policy Move is in compliance with the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2001
THE City Government of Naga, Cebu has created a special task force that will brief the residents on the importance of segregating their household wastes.
The green marshals, who are composed of eight individuals, have started conducting doorto-door information drives in four barangays under the Poblacion area.
They will proceed to the other villages within the month, said Naga City Administrator Arthur Villamor.
In an interview yesterday, Villamor told Sun. Star Cebu that Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong created the task force in relation to their “no segregation, no collection” policy, which was implemented last Monday.
Villamor said an intensive information dissemination campaign in the city is needed to ensure that the public will embrace the new policy.
“We want to embed in the minds of our constituents this policy,” he said.
The implementation of the city’s “no segregation, no collection” is based on Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2001.
The law mandates the proper segregation and collection of solid wastes.
