Carmen Copper brings cheer to 3,200 indigents

Beneficiaries are members of 4Ps, senior citizens from Toledo City

MORE than 3,200 indigents from Toledo City benefited from Carmen Copper Corp.’s Christmas gift-giving last month.

Organized under the company’s Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), the beneficiaries were mostly members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and their children and senior citizens residing in Carmen Copper’s host and neighboring barangays.

Carmen Copper sought to complement the government’s programs for the marginalized sectors, like choosing the 4Ps beneficiaries and senior citizens to receive gift bundles from the company during this season of giving.

These 4Ps families are considered the poorest of poor by the government who identified them using the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction.

Some 1,300 4Ps families received Noche Buena packs, while their children received toys and refreshments during five separate gift-giving activities held from Dec. 20 to 27.

Over 1,900 senior citizens each received five kilos of rice and canned goods.

“To receive gifts and all forms of material blessings in this culminating part of the year is a common wish of everyone. Much more for those who have less in life, they should receive more gifts this Christmas,” said Carmen Copper president and chief executive officer Enrico C. Nera.

Nera, who attended one of the biggest gift-giving activities held at the Carmen Copper Recreation Center last Dec. 20 with more than 800 4Ps beneficiaries gathered, said that Carmen Copper will continue to help the community not only during Christmas but all through the year.
