Veco encourages clients to use Internet channels in transactions

-

TO enhance customer service, the Visayan Electric Company (Veco) is boosting its efforts in encouraging consumers to use the Internet in all customer transactions and bill payments this year.

According to Veco, online transactions, which cover inquiries, complaint, request through Facebook, Twitter, Veco mail and website continued to increase from 15,334 in 2015 to 20,448 last year.

Online payments, though, were still low at three percent.

“We want to continue this year the electronic billing program after the fi- nality of the ERC rules on electronic billing and communication,” said Eric Ching, Veco’s reputation and enhancement manager.

On the other hand, bills payments from the third party collection partners gained a significant increase from 70 percent in 2015 to 82 percent as of November 2016.

Veco customers may also enrol through auto debit/credit arrangements through Citibank and UnionBank. They may also pay through authorized third party collection partners, authorized collection banks or through Veco’s authorized ATM and online sites BancNet, UnionBank, and Metrobank.

Jaime Jose Aboitiz, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the AboitizPower Distribution Business Group, said they have observed decreasing number of clients paying bills at their office in SM City Cebu and they hope to see this continued behavior in the coming months.

“Pushing payments through our TPAs allow us to give people more payment choices that is convenient for them,” said Aboitiz.

Ching said part of the company’s direction this year is to also expand and bring their services nearer to their customer by adding smaller satellite service centers.

Veco will likewise embark on expanding the capacity of Veco’s distribution facility to cater to increasing customer demand as well as build and upgrade substations and distribution lines.

Veco now has over 300,000 customers in its franchise area in Metro Cebu, with an average growth rate of five percent per year.
