TALISAY DANCERS TO GET P500,000
The dancers were the crowd’s favorite during the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan last Saturday. They also won 3 awards.
Talisay City’s official contingent to the Sinulog Grand Parade on Sunday will get more funds from City Hall.
They will also get P500,000 from the City for garnering the major awards during the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan last Saturday in Cebu City.
They won the championship in the elementary division, while Tuburan won in the secondary division. Both contingents received P350,000 each as their prize and a slot in the parade.
The Talisay City Council approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Eduardo Gullas to provide financial aid to the Talisay City Central School for their perfor- mance on Sunday.
With this, Vice Mayor Alan Bucao said that the executive department can now facilitate the release of the assistance.
Bucao said that the amount was not specified in the resolution so Mayor Gullas will have a free hand to decide on how much the City Government will give the contingent.
The Schools Division request- ed for P837,000 for the group.
Bucao said that the mayor also plans to give the dancers P500,000 as a reward for getting the top prize in the contest last Saturday.
Gullas and the council will watch them perform again in the grand parade.
During his speech before the City Council yesterday, Gullas said that the performers of the Talisay City Central School should serve as an inspiration for all constituents to strive harder to achieve their goals.
Despite skipping last year’s Sinulog festivities, Talisay made a stunning comeback by bagging three awards in the elementary division of the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan last Saturday.
