■ ACCENTURE TO HIRE 1,000 MORE WORKERS IN CEBU, MARKS 10TH YEAR HERE

Accenture Philippine­s managing director Lito Tayag says the move is part of their expansion strategy in Southern Philippine­s. Company will look for workers skilled in finance, accounting, health management, and network and infrastruc­ture services.

As it marks its 10th year in Cebu, Accenture Philippine­s announced it will hire 1,000 “highly- skilled” workers starting this year until 2018 to run its Cebu operations. Managing Director Lito T. Tayag said the jobs will be in finance and accounting, health management, network services, and infrastruc­ture services, among others, and filling them is part of a push for more “high-value, non-voice work.” Accenture started with 85 employees in Cebu in 2007, with its first office at Pioneer House in Cebu Business Park. Today, it operates four facilities in Cebu, located in Pioneer House, Cybergate, ebloc 2 and ebloc 3 in Cebu IT Park. It has 5,000 employees in Cebu and has received an award from the Cebu City ICT- BPM Council for being among the biggest sources of jobs in the city. BUSINESS

Accenture Philippine­s announced that it will hire 1,000 “highly- skilled” workers from this year until 2018 to run its Cebu operations.

In a press conference for Accenture’s 10th year in Cebu yesterday, managing director Lito T. Tayag said the job requiremen­ts will cover the areas of finance and accounting, health management, network services, and infrastruc­ture services, among others.

“We are looking for high-value, non-voice work,” Tayag said. Some of these include profes- sionals and experts in Java, SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft.

Over the years, the official said Accenture Cebu has concentrat­ed in non-voice techology services to 120 clients across different parts of the world.

“Accenture is proud of what we have achieved in the Cebu delivery center for our company, our clients, and our people. Our operations here have contribute­d to our overall growth strategy,” said the company.

Accenture started with 85 employees in Cebu in 2007, with its first office at Pioneer House in Cebu Business Park.

Today, Accenture operates four facilities in Cebu, which are located in Pioneer House, Cybergate, ebloc 2 and ebloc 3 in Cebu IT Park. It has 5,000 employees in Cebu.

For being one of the biggest job generators in Cebu, the Cebu City ICT-BPM Council awarded Accenture as one of the top 10 IT/ BPM companies.

One more facility

Within the year, Tayag said the company will open another office in Cebu City, although he declined to reveal additional details.

Moving forward, the Accenture executive believes the talent requiremen­t in the informatio­n technology and business process management (IT-BPM) will become more complex, as new technologi­es evolve.

He encouraged the government to invest in Philippine education, particular­ly in reinforcin­g science, technology, and engineerin­g among students.

Accenture currently has 22 facilities across Manila, Cebu, and Ilocos with 45,000 employees in the country.

Accenture provides clients with services in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations.
