Good for the heart: Chef Donita Rose
Nothing’s more appealing than a woman who cooks to serve with love and passion.
In line with the Sinulog festival, Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil brought in its brand ambassador, Chef Donita Rose to Cebu as she shared with Cebuanos her expertise in cooking a Cebuano dish with a twist at SM City Cebu last Jan. 14.
In a cooking demo held in the mall’s Events Center, Donita prepared her version of Popiah, a dish inspired from Cebu’s lumpia ngohiong, a local kin of a spring roll. Cebuanos were allured as she showcased her delectable recipes that are healthy and easy to cook. She did this, having the aim at helping spread the heart-healthy goodness of home cooking with the use of Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil.
Last 2012, Donita completed a degree in Culinary Arts from The Academy for International Culinary Arts. She discovered her love for cooking overpowers her aspirations in being a celebrity alone. For her, a kitchen is her second home.
In her cooking demo, Cebu bloggers and fans were delighted to see how passionate and precise she was when it came to cooking. In fact, every detail of the dish she made was out of love and inspiration. Donita realized that her path led her to the culinary world since she believes that cooking is the best expression of one’s love for food, just as much as she loves food.
“I was inspired to get into culinary from the movie Ratatouille,” said Donita. “Every time people talk about food, it’s like ratatouille, like a fire to me,” she added.
Donita is so keen on cooking that she cooks food not just to fill a stomach but she makes sure she cooks a health friendly dish that is good for the heart. / USJ-R Comm Intern Eula L. Talisic
