Local updates
Good news reports, at least local music-wise, seem to greet us coming into the new year.
Albums, everywhere
Wonggoys released their second album High Hello just a few weeks ago. Under 22 Tango Records, the band of brothers release a record full of melodic tracks set to inspire or engage listeners. The songs, led by the carrier single Weekend, can be found in online streaming sites.
This weekend, Cebu-based Iligan rock outfit Loop will be at Semi-Final Sports Bar, Mango Square, Gen. Maxilom Ave., Cebu City, to release their third and latest album
Reality & Dreams. First song off the new record that the band will be promoting is the track I
Want You. The four-piece deliver sweet and pleasant melodies backed by tight and aggressive instrumentation. The special event, presented by Bomba Press, is also supported by Nick Automatic and Semi-Final.
Sinulog 2017 goes without a hitch
A few gigs here and there, programs with celebrities in city malls, and a ton of dance parties—this year’s Sinulog festival wasn’t totally the bore-fest some feared it would be. The reverence was there; the partying was also present—one should just know where to find the best events where both the elements of fun and safety are paramount priorities.
A viral video of excited party- goers seemingly trapped in between two walls scared a few here and there. Sure, better things could have been done. However, is it always the organizers’ fault? There is much to be discussed, and the general public may also need to be lectured about a few things. The crowds that somehow pack small streets in the Gen. Maxilom Ave., Cebu City area during Sinulog Sunday afternoons can be more unruly.

Awesome news for every songwriter out there. Vispop has just announced that the committee is now accepting entries and the deadline will be March 31. Vispop is a songwriting campaign that encourages songwriters to write quality, radio-friendly Visayan songs. More details will be announced soon.
