Sinulog and Chinese New Year
The Sinulog is the ritualistic manifestation of our faith in Señor Sto. Niño. The religious procession is the deep-seated essence of our faith.
Rain or shine, decade after decade, the Filipinos celebrate the feast of Señor Sto. Niño, coming home to Cebu from the various parts of the globe.
During its early stage, the Sinulog was un-structured, a spontaneous revelry in the streets. I felt the pulse of our Christian faith then. Thereafter, due to so many contingents, some procedural pacing, security and time management had to be done; thus, the Sinulog from the streets ended up in a structured stage to accommodate better viewing, not to mention wide tri-media coverage.

The Consul General of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Shi Yong tendered dinner at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu to celebrate the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) on Jan. 28. From the early Filipino tradition, the Chinese influence has been inplanted in us, thus, celebrating the Chinese New Year has become part of our lifestyle.
The Radisson Blu will have special Chinese buffet on Jan. 28 with Chinese Chef Ang Cheng Yew preparing authentic dishes. There was media food tasting last Monday, Jan. 16 at Feria with no less than Ann Olalo. Splendid taste!
The Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino Tin Gow had its special lunch last Thursday, Jan. 19. The yearly celebration of Shangri–La’s Mactan Resort and Spa will be right on time on Saturday, Jan. 28 at its lobby. General manager Rene Egle is on top of the festivity. Over at Mactan, Waterfront Mactan Airport Hotel and Casino had likewise a special Chinese fest.
