SUDDEN LOSSES

FOR CAVS, GOLDEN STATE

-

The Sisters of Mary School Boys Town is now officially part of the Cebu Province Sports Commission’s grassroots sports development program.

Starting this Saturday, CPSC has sanctioned the sports clinics at the SMS Boys Town Complex in Tungkop, Minglanilla as part of its province-wide search for grassroots development program. This relieves its brainchild Van Halen Parmis of his weekly frantic search for volunteer coaches to introduce something new to the students.

CPSC has tapped the services of Eleazar Toledo (football), Tony Abellana (badminton), Jonathan Belano (basketball), Rolando Remolino (swimming), Francis Berezo (athletics), Charlie Roscios (volleyball) and Lezlie Agbon (table tennis) to become the regu- lar coaches who will be teaching their respective sports to the students of SMS Boys Town.

“The Cebu Province Sports Commission will support the grassroots program that was started by coach Parmis. We have allocated some amount for this project and was approved by the commission last Monday. The Cebu Province will provide coaches and the basic equipment for trainings. Our initial budget is for six months, but this will be renewed and would become bigger for the next six months,” Brando Velasquez who is the Sports Development Officer III of the Cebu Province.

Velasquez gathered the coaches for the final instructions yesterday in the presence of SMS Boys Town principal Sis. Lilibeth Gustilo who was also enthusiastic for the help extended by the Cebu Province.

CPSC’s program to SMS Boys Town has three phases—the first is the short term program where the basics of the games are in, the medium range program that is to hold competition within the school and competing in the district meets and Milo Little Olympics and the long term program is for the selection for the Batang Pinoy games in December.
