MCCI to help LGU create biz chamber
The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is helping the local government of Minglanilla to create its own business chamber.
According to MCCI president Glenn Anthony Soco, they have joined the first organizational meeting of the soon-to-be Minglanilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry last Wednesday.
Soco said the LGU of Minglanilla was encouraged to organize the business community to complement the mucipality’s growth and development.
The first meeting was attended by LGU officials, business owners and representatives of companies. An ad-hoc committee was organized to faciliate its inception where MCCI will oversee and provide assistance until they formally become a business chamber.
Soco sees this initiative as a welcome development and aligned with the thrusts of the Duterte gov- ernment to activate entrepreneurship in the countryside. He said Minglanilla is one of top emerging municipalities of Cebu.
“Growth and development is going towards the coastal areas of the metropolis. Minglanilla, being part of the urban core, and with their planned reclamation development, is poised to become the gateway to the south,” said Soco.
The ad-hoc committee composed of 15 representatives will initially be founding members of the Minglanilla Business Chamber.
Soco said MCCI will be sharing the chamber’s best practices.
Minglanilla is a first class municipality in Cebu. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 132,135. It is known as the “Sugat Capital of the South”.
Real estate is a booming industry in Minglanilla being one of the preferred locations of property developers. It also has thriving manufacturing and commercial business.
