■ KIDNAP-FOR-RANSOM GROUP MEMBER ARRESTED IN ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR

Police intelligence operatives arrested a kidnap-for-ransom group member in Zamboanga del Sur. Zamboanga del Sur Police Director Sofronio Ecaldre identified him as Benhar Abdusalam, who carries the aliases of Jaylene, Helen, and Rajak. Ecaldre said Abdusalam is a member of the Zamboanga Sibugay-based Abdusalam criminal group that is engaged in kidnapping for ransom, extortion, and other criminal activities. He said Abdusalam was arrested around 10 a.m. Thursday at the municipal gymnasium of Lapuyan.

The police intelligence operatives arrested a kidnap-for-ransom group (KFRG) member in Zamboanga del Sur, an official said Friday, Jan. 27.

Zamboanga del Sur Police Director Sofronio Ecaldre identified the arrested KFRG member as Benhar Abdusalam, who carries the aliases of Jaylene, Helen, and Rajak.

Ecaldre said Abdusalam is a member of the Zamboanga Sibugay-based Abdusalam criminal group that is engaged in kidnapping for ransom, extortion, and other criminal activities.

He said Abdusalam was arrested around 10 a.m. Thursday at the municipal gymnasium of Lapuyan, Zamboanga del Sur.

The police director added Abdusalam, who is listed as number 12 in the Abdusalam criminal group, is facing charges for the crime of kidnapping and serious illegal detention before the Regional Trial Court Branch 12 in this city.
