Child molester

Imagine a little girl not even two years old, hung by her feet, her hands tied, hot wax poured on her naked body

Most of us have not seen the “Daisy” video but from the account of those who had, one can imagine what a pervert the molester was and how cruel the fate suffered by the tortured child.

Imagine a little girl not even two years old, hung by her feet, her hands tied, hot wax poured on her naked body and being assaulted by a much older girl. The worst indignity of all was that the video was sold to an international community of perverts.

The woman monster’s face was hidden behind a mask, not necessarily out of shame because she has none, but in order to avoid being identified. The poor girl’s face was uncovered so the criminal audience can enjoy watching it as she writhed and wept in pain.

Thus, we were all filled with revulsion after we read the story. We still are. That she managed to live a good life from the money that she earned from selling “Daisy” and God knows how many more videos makes it even more revolting.

She thumbed her nose on the authorities, too, posting her pictures on social media, confident that the long but sadly oftentimes useless arm of the law cannot reach her. Happily, the National Bureau of Investigation through some good old sleuthing traced her in Malapascua and arrested her.

She has to pay for her crime. She reportedly told her jailers that she wanted to live a new life. It’s too late for that now. She does not deserve sympathy, no, not even understanding. She destroyed the life of a little girl, who was, at the time of the crime, was nearly as old as my youngest granddaughter.

A number among us think that prison isn’t enough punishment for the heinous crime that she and her Australian partner committed. They want to see her executed. Alas for them, we no longer have a death penalty law.

They will be debating on the re-enactment of that law in Congress in the next few weeks. There is no assurance that the law will pass, given the stiff opposition to it, particularly from the Catholic Church.

But even if it passes, she still cannot be executed. That would violate the Constitution which prohibits the passage of an ex post facto law. (An ex post facto law is one that punishes an act that was not illegal when it was committed or imposes a penalty that is higher than what it was at the time of the commission of the offense.)

So let the child molester rot in jail. That is where she and her kind belong. Our children and our grandchildren are safer without them prowling our streets for possible victims.
