Frederic tops men’s Class A with four birdies against Nonoy Tirol in the Cebu Country Club monthly tourney Cimafranca rules Class B, while Alvarez, Go dominated Classes C, D, respectively; Martinez rules ladies’ division

Frederic Chiongbian ruled the 2017 January Monthly Medal Tournament of Cebu Country Club (CCC), walking away with the men’s Class A division top honors last Saturday at the CCC layouts in Banilad Cebu City.

Chiongbian scored a net 68 spiked with four birdies to win via countback over Marc Gonzalez, who settled for first runner-up. Nonoy Tirol nabbed second runner-up with 70 after beating Marko Sarmiento and Alvin Alazas in a countback.

Jude Cimafranca reigned in the Class B division with a net 64, outsmarting Lee Wun Sun and Masashi Nishikawa who carded 65 and 68, respectively.

Gilfer Alvarez came up with 63 to top the Class C division over Tsutomo Watanabe and Yoshimitsu Sakai. Watanabe scored 65 good for second, while Yoshimitsu shot 67 to take third place.

Patricio Go topped the Class D division, scoring net 65 to outlast Henry Gocuan and June Luna who scored 68 and 74 for second and third places.

Peter Po Sr. dominated the Seniors’ division as he finished with net 69. Wellington Lim scored 72 and took second place after winning the countback over Alvin Tan Unjo, who settled for third place.

In the ladies division, Catrina Martinez had 68 and won via countback over Riko Nagai to take top honors.

Nagai settled for second place, while Maricel Maniquis snagged third place with 74.

Meanwhile, Neil Howard won the Guest division after scoring 75, beating Dale Nagata and Hiroyuki Fujii who had 77 and 78, respectively. /
