Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 arrested three suspected drug personalities, including a minor, in a buybust in Barangay Tejero, Cebu City yesterday afternoon.

Seized from the suspects were 100 grams of white crystals believed to be shabu worth P1.2 million and two unlicensed firearms.

Special Agent Arnel Pura said their target Arnel Ardeño and a certain Opao were able to escape arrest.

NBI captured Ardeño’s live-in partner Aireen Ompad and their alleged cohorts Alvin Arnaiz and a 15-year-old boy.

The suspects denied their involvement in illegal drug trade.

For her part, Ompad said she was doing her laundry when she was caught.

“Wala gyod koy kalibotan ana (I really have no idea),” she said.

Tejero Barangay Councilor Garry Lao, who witnessed the inventory of evidence, is grateful to the NBI for conducting the operation.

Pura said they held a twoweek surveillance on the sus- pects, after they were tipped off about the illegal drug trade in the area.

He said they will trace the source of the drugs.

Complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspects.

Selling dangerous drugs is a non-bailable offense.

NBI will determine the owners of the guns, before charging them with illegal possession of firearms. /
