PARK MALL TO HOST BOOK LAUNCH, #CEBULITFES­T OPEN MIC ON FEB. 11

Cecilia Manguerra Brainard, an award-winning author and editor of 19 books, including “When the Rainbow Goddess Wept” and “Angelica’s Daughters,” will launch her latest novel “Magdalena” at the Park Mall Central Park on Feb. 11. The event will start at 5 p.m. It will be followed by the #cebuLitFes­t Open Mic, which showcases original poetry and songs by upcoming and establishe­d performers.

Park Mall will hold a book launch of Cecilia Manguerra Brainard’s novel “Magdalena,” followed by the #CebuLitFes­t Open Mic for spoken word and poetry on Saturday, Feb. 11.

The event will start at 5 p.m. and will be held at the mall’s Central Park (beside Choobi Choobi).

Brainard is the award-winning author and editor of 19 books, including “When the Rainbow Goddess Wept” and “Angelica’s Daughters.” Her work has been translated into Finnish and Turkish.

The Philippine edition of “Magdalena” is published by the University of Santo Tomas Press and will be exclusivel­y sold at the venue with a book signing and reception after the launch.

Meanwhile, the #CebuLitFes­t Open Mic is a regular celebratio­n of spoken word and music.

It is a showcase of original poetry and songs by upcoming and establishe­d performers, including Juanita Romualdez, Juan Miguel Severo and HOPIA who have performed in past editions.
