Danao City releases race course for Xterra
After two years of being away from Cebu, the Xterra Philippines makes a comeback to the island with the 2016 edition to be held in Danao City on April 23.
Because of this Danao wants to give it a memorable welcome as they desogned a race route that is expected to have offroad triathletes sore for days.
Xterra Danao, organized by Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI), has released the course details yesterday for the 1.5-kilometer swim, 35K off-road bike and 10K trail run race.
The race will blasts off with the swim portion at the Coco Palm Beach Resort.
After the swim, the participants will cross the main highway heading to the main part of the two-loop bike course, which will take the triathletes around barangays Looc, Sabang and Manlayag Patag.
“Participants will enter fire roads and rocky terrain. There will be numerous single tracks with varying vegetation in the area. The elevation will increase as the participants enter the middle portion or loop part of the course,” said part of the race description, which was posted on the event’s official page.
The bike course will test the handling skills of the participants as the course will have fast downhill sections, technical sections and fast long turns.
For the run segment, the participants will then proceed to the transition two area at the Cebu Technological University (CTU) –Danao, where the rubberized track is located.
The one-loop run course will take participants to single track and narrow trails before going back to the finish line at CTU.
