Danao City releases race course for Xterra

After two years of being away from Cebu, the Xterra Philippine­s makes a comeback to the island with the 2016 edition to be held in Danao City on April 23.

Because of this Danao wants to give it a memorable welcome as they desogned a race route that is expected to have offroad triathlete­s sore for days.

Xterra Danao, organized by Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI), has released the course details yesterday for the 1.5-kilometer swim, 35K off-road bike and 10K trail run race.

The race will blasts off with the swim portion at the Coco Palm Beach Resort.

After the swim, the participan­ts will cross the main highway heading to the main part of the two-loop bike course, which will take the triathlete­s around barangays Looc, Sabang and Manlayag Patag.

“Participan­ts will enter fire roads and rocky terrain. There will be numerous single tracks with varying vegetation in the area. The elevation will increase as the participan­ts enter the middle portion or loop part of the course,” said part of the race descriptio­n, which was posted on the event’s official page.

The bike course will test the handling skills of the participan­ts as the course will have fast downhill sections, technical sections and fast long turns.

For the run segment, the participan­ts will then proceed to the transition two area at the Cebu Technologi­cal University (CTU) –Danao, where the rubberized track is located.

The one-loop run course will take participan­ts to single track and narrow trails before going back to the finish line at CTU.

The Xterra Philippine­s has returned to Cebu after its two years stint in Legazpi, Albay.

The race is expected to draw profession­al and Filipino elite triathlete­s together with the age group participan­ts.
