BADIAN FOLKS GET MEDICAL SERVICES
Two-day medical mission has been organized by US Bisaya Medical Association, SWU PHINMA SWU Medical Association awarded outstanding students of the School of Medicine with certificates, financial aid
The US Bisaya Medical Association, in cooperation with the Southwestern University (SWU) PHINMA, conducted a two-day annual medical and dental mission last Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in Badian town, Cebu.
The activity provided the poor communities in Badian with free medical assistance, such as dental care, maternal and child care, optical services, minor surgery and vasectomy, and health education, among others.
The mission was headed by Dr. Halbert Capuy, an alumnus of the SWU PHINMA. The association also donated an ambulance to Badian.
Prior to the mission, the SWU Medical Alumni Association lead by Dr. Leonardo Malalis awarded outstanding students of the School of Medicine with certificates and modest financial incentives.
Also, the SWU PHINMA hosted a tour of the new School of Medicine and held a simple welcome and get-together dinner for the association.
The dinner activity was an opportunity for the alumni to know the new development of the university and to engage in future engagements.
The success of the mission was mainly a result of the strong partnership between the SWU Medical Alumni, the US Bisayan Medical Alumni Association, the local government of Badian and SWU PHINMA.
This partnership, with other local government beneficiaries, will be further strengthened in the coming years through dedicated service and the sense of pride in the school’s mission.
