The band of brothers—Gabe, Bill and Kyle Wong who call themselves the Wonggoys (a playful take on their surname and how their mother used to call them when they were little, unggoys which translates to monkeys— took their audience to another dimension, as they released their sophomore album entitled High

Hello last January at The Greenery in Mabolo, Cebu City. The album was released under independen­t record label 22 Tango Records.

A tent was set up that night in the garden with lights that imbibed a nostalgic feeling. Wooden seats were arranged side by side inviting people to come together and unite in music. It was a night to listen to feel

good rhythm and inevitably nod to that pop rock beat which was quite different from the usual acoustic tone that the group has been well known for. The music was different from that of the group’s debut album, released six years ago entitled I Don’t Know What to Say but I’ll Say it

Anyway and the new album was a bit more experiment­al leaning towards a mix of pop and electronic­a.

The group performed the songs from their album for those who wished to listen to the homegrown band and their newfound beat. One of the songs played during the launch was

The Weekend which is the first single from the nine-track album of original songs composed by the brothers and was released last October 2016. The other songs are On My Way, Patches, Never Let You Go, Blurt, Voices, Gay is OK, Missy and Never Too Late which was a love song dedicated to Gabe’s girlfriend.

The album art cover was a hand-painted design created by Jason Bacunador who’s better known by his street name Daot. The album was recorded at 1032 Recording Studios in Cebu and Yellow Room Recording Studios in Manila.
