- KAL, GMD

A Bohol-based trader urged President Rodrigo Duterte and PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to help arrest the alleged gunmen and mastermind in the killing of an environmental lawyer in Tagbilaran City, Bohol last Feb. 15.

Conrada Blomqvist, client of slain lawyer Mia Manuelita Mascariñas-Green, told reporters yesterday that they would pursue the case against Lloyd Lancer Gonzaga, the alleged mastermind, and Romarico Benegi-an, the suspected gunman.

Blomqvist held a press conference in the office of her counsel, Inocencio dela Cerna, yesterday afternoon.

Gonzaga, 34; and Benegi-an, 33, of Davao Del Norte, eluded arrest when the police stormed their rooms at Alona Embrace Hotel in Talawa, Panglao last Feb.16.

Gonzaga, the manager of Alona Embrace Hotel; and Benigian, one of the suspected gunmen, were identified by witnesses as among those who shot and killed 49-year-old Green.

Green was the lawyer of Blomqvist, who filed charges against Gonzaga over a land conflict in Panglao, Bohol.

Witnesses identified Benegi-an as one of the four people on board two motorcycles who ambushed the lawyer’s Toyota Inno- va at the corner of H. Zamora and J.A. Clarin Sts. in Dao District on her way home to Loon, Bohol at past 4 p.m.

Police said Green was caught in the conflict between her client and the owner of a beach resort in Panglao Island.

Authorities also said that Gonzaga is the son-in-law of the vic-

Green and her client, the mother-in-law of the resort owner, were reportedly on the verge of winning the case.

Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, Police Regional Office 7 director, said they will catch the perpetrators “dead or alive.”

“Kung lalaban sila, kung mag-iimplement tayo ng warrant of arrest, siyempre huwag maunahan yung pulis natin (If they will fight, we’ll make sure our police officers are not beaten to the draw),” he said.

Green, 49, will be buried today. A requiem will be held at the Saint Joseph the Worker Church in Tagbilaran City before the interment.

Taliño said they will file the murder charges if they cannot arrest the suspects, whom he believed are already in hiding outside Bohol./
