Two more suspects will be charged for the kidnap-slay of Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo. Senior Superintendent Glenn Dumlao, Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) director, declined to identify the two new suspects.
He said they will just reveal the identities of the suspects during the preliminary investigation on the case scheduled for February 26.
He said the two were implicated by the suspects who were earlier charged due to their involvement on the case.
Charged with kidnapping for ransom with homicide for Jee’s killing were SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel, SPO4 Roy Villegas, Ramon Yalung and four people identified only under the aliases “Pulis,” “Jerry,” “Sir Dumlao,” and “Ding.”
Earlier, PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa said they were investigating the involvement of at least two National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officials.
Dumlao would not say whether the new primary suspects are the NBI agents. He alleged that Jee’s killing might be intended to frighten foreign businessmen in the country who refuse to pay extortion money to an organized group composed of government officials. “The motive behind was to murder him ( Jee),” Dumlao said.
Jee, an owner of a manpower agency, was abducted on October 18 from his home in Angeles City, Pampanga and was brought to Camp Crame, where he was strangled to death.
Even after Jee was killed, the suspects asked for ransom money from his family. Choi Kyung Jin, Jee’s wife, said she gave P5 million to the abductors in exchange of the release of her husband.
