Paying ATTENTION

The lunch hour has just ended and you’re trying your best to listen, but your eyelids are not cooperating.

-

Your gaze wanders elsewhere and suddenly, you’re daydreaming. And whatever the lesson being discussed has flown out the window.

We’ve all been there. Paying attention in class can sometimes be difficult.

However, there are ways to keep your focus. Here are some of them.

1. Prepare before class.

Take note of the time and prepare your mind for intense learning. Make sure you’re ready for your lessons before the bell rings by keeping your desk neat and finishing up things you shouldn’t be doing in class.

2. Keep distractions away.

Put away other things that will keep you from listening. If you have a talkative classmate beside you, try to ask your teacher to have you transferred to another seat.

3. Participate.

Your mind will be especially active in class if you participate in the discussions. Ask questions or contribute answers if your teachers ask for your thoughts.

4. Take down notes.

Writing down things helps us to remember what the teacher has been discussing.

5. Get enough sleep.

If you didn’t rest well the night before, it will be difficult to stay awake during the day. Make sure you hit the sack early so you have enough energy for all your lessons.
