WHAT WILL MATT DAMON DO TO JIMMY KIMMEL?
Jimmy Kimmel got a good ribbing from Matt Damon when the former hosted the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards last September. Kimmel hosted the ceremony while nominated then lost in the Best Variety / Talk Series category to John Oliver. Damon got on stage to taunt Kimmel, calling the latter a loser.
Everybody knows they have a fake feud, but it's a great comedic relief.
Kimmel is hosting today's show and expect Damon to be part of the script—the opening monologue even.
Kimmel might even get his revenge on Damon, who is nominated in the Best Picture category as one of the producers of Manchester By the Sea. Based on previous awards shows—the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild and Producers Guild Awards, among others—it seems like La La Land already has one hand accepting the Oscar for Best Picture.
Damon admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that he might even throw something at Kimmel.
“It's horrible for everybody. Sorry, just being honest. Probably bad for me too, but I mean, bad for America,” Damon said of Kimmel's hosting while on Ellen to promote his latest film The Great Wall.
But DeGeneres, who hosted the Oscars multiple times, tried to back Kimmel up, saying: “You know how nervous he is, that's so mean. You know he's really anxious about it.”
“He should be. There's going to be hundreds of millions of people watching, and I'm hoping that he messes up. I'm going to be there a few rows deep hoping that he messes up. I may even throw things at him,” Damon joked.
And Damon practiced his throwing skills in the show, too, as DeGeneres egged him to play a game of darts. The 46-yearold actor was pretty good at it.
A few days later, Kimmel also guested on Ellen.
“He can do whatever he wants... But one thing I know that Matt Damon won't be throwing is an Oscar because he's not going to win,” Kimmel told DeGeneres.
