National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) spokesperson Atty. Ferdinand Lavin said the agency will file a motion with the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) to have former Bureau of Correction (Bucor) official Rafael Ragos' custody.

Ragos, accused of benefiting in the illegal drug trade in the New Bilbid Prison (NBP) along with former justice secretary Leila De Lima, has surrendered to the NBI on Sunday morning following the court's issuance of a warrant of arrest against him, De Lima and Ronnie Dayan.

"When we return the warrant, we will file a motion. We will manifest before the court that as much as possible, dito siya sa NBI," Lavin said at a press conference.

Lavin said Ragos, who was also a former Deputy Director of the NBI, will be more secured inside the NBI's premises.

"Exactly for his own safety and security... May naifile siyang kaso when he was still an agent, alam mo pag andun siya sa ibang piitan baka bawian siya," Lavin said when asked about the justification of the supposed filing of motion.

Lavin said the arresting team, composed of NBI agents, will bring Ragos to the Muntinlupa court and return the warrant of arrest to branch 204 judge Juanita Guerrero on Monday.

According to Lavin, Ragos has already undergone booking procedures and medical proceedings at the NBI.
