-

The Rider Omega Pro Triathlon Team showed its force anew as they nabbed the Team Challenge title in the first leg of the 2017 Tri United Series in Subic Bay yesterday.

The 16-man Omega Pro acquired the most points in the Team Challenge as majority of its age group triathletes made a podium finish in the 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike and 10K run race.

The defending Team Challenge champion Omega Pro outlasted Sante Barley and Fitness First, who finished second and third, respectively.

Banjo Norte contributed to the team’s points after topping the men’s 18-24 division, while duathlon national team member Joland Olmilla, who debut on his first triathlon race, finished second for Omega Pro.

Cebuano Kristiane Lim added points as he placed second in the men’s 30-34, while teammate Brian Borling took third place. Borling and Lim were also awarded with the fastest time bike split.

In the women’s division Cianyl Jamae Gonzalez also scored for the team, winning th 18-24 division. Feeling Torres placed second in the 30-34 class.

“I was very happy of the results. All of our athletes improved their time compare from last year’s Tri United performance. Despite Paul ( Jumamil) racing in the elite and we could not use his time for the points, we still managed to win,” said team manager Tonyson Luther Lee.

The team challenge is a competition in the age group category wherein every rider will be given corresponding scores, which will be credited to the team, based on their ranking and time in the races.

Meanwhile, Paul Jumamil finished fourth in the men’s elite race. Mitch Robins topped the race, followed by Nikko Huelgas and John Chicano.
