Congrats, Fr. Bob

CONCERT. Just as she turned 77 years old last Saturday, concert pianist Dr. Ingrid Sala-Santamaria staged a highly successful “finale” presentation with her former students of both Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra and Peace Philharmonic Philippines. The US-based Rodel Flores purposely flew in just to conduct the musicians. Credit goes to the siblings Hannah Magdadaro-Go and Hazel Magdadaro-Sanchez as well as their parents Sir Greg and Madame Louella for producing Ingrid:Grand Finale.

CHEERS. We should felicitate dyRF station manager Fr. Roberto “Bob” Ebisa on his induction as the new chairman of the local chapter of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas. As such, he faces a lot of challenges in cleansing the airwaves by eliminating gutter language, or the giving of masiao tips or numbers by some program handlers.

CHALLENGE. While Fr. Bob and his co-officers will be dealing with their fellow station managers whose outfits continue to commit violations of the Broadcast Code, they should also consider the interest and welfare of the listening public. I also hope they would play at least one Cebuano or Visayan song every hour by local AM and FM stations. If I'm not mistaken, there's an existing city ordinance on this.

DRAMA. Hildi Montesclaros a.k.a. Ate Ging is producing a Lenten teledrama to be aired over CCTN channel 47 in time for the forthcoming Holy Week observance. She has initially talked to Restie Jumao-as Nur to conceptualize the story. Yours truly will direct it. (For comments, text 0932-2778771).
