GRANDFATHER FACES RAPE, CHILD ABUSE CASES
Police want social workers to provide psychological intervention to the grandfather’s victim.
A 65-year-old man will face two counts of rape and child abuse for allegedly raping his two granddaughters. Senior Insp. Elisandro Quijano, chief of the Guadalupe Police Station, said the girls’ parents were adamant to pursue the case against Nilo (real name withheld to protect the identities of the victims). “But this is not the first time he did the act. After the first one, the family forgave him. The second one, they had him arrested,” the police official said. Nilo, in an earlier interview, admitted that he inserted his fingers in the genitals of his six-year-old granddaughter. The Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 will be tapped to help the victims.
The 65-year-old grandfather who molested his two granddaughters in the mountain barangay of Cebu City will be charged with two counts of rape and two counts of child abuse.
Senior Insp. Elisandro Quijano, chief of the Guadalupe Police Station, said they will file cases against Nilo (real name withheld to protect the identity of the victims) before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.
Quijano said that the girls’ parents were adamant to pursue the case against their relative.
“But this is not the first time he did the act. After the first one, the family forgave him. After the second one, they had him arrested,” he said.
The police officer also said the six-year-old girl who is Nilo’s lat- est victim has been examined.
Quijano said it will be up to Nilo if he will admit or deny what he did to his granddaughters in the court.
Nilo, in an earlier interview, admitted that he inserted his fingers into the genitals of his sixyear-old granddaughter. He was allegedly drunk.
He also admitted doing the same thing to the older sister, aged 8, last December.
Quijano, however, said that Nilo’s claim will not stand in court as he did the act of his own volition.
The Guadalupe police will tap the Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 in providing psychological intervention to the child, who was traumatized by the assault. /
