1 MAN NABBED FOR MASIAO IN LAPU

A resident of Talisay City was arrested for illegal gambling in Lapu-Lapu City last Friday night. Waylan Dumigsi, 26, was arrested after police saw him issuing tickets of an illegal numbers game, locally known as masiao, and accepting money from the bettors in Sitio Saac, Barangay Buaya around 8:30 p.m. LapuLapu Police Station 5, led by Chief Insp. Jaime Tolentino, visited the area after they got a call from a resident that an illegal gambling activity was ongoing. Police seized two stubs of masiao tickets and P200 cash from Dumigsi. Dumigsi was detained in the station’s holding cell. / FMG

2 POLICE ARREST 4 FOR DRUGS IN LAPU

Four persons were arrested in an anti-drug operation in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City last Friday afternoon. The operation, led by Chief Insp. Jaime Tolentino of Lapu-Lapu Police Station 5, arrested Christophe­r “Topi” Ugsang, 21, and his cohort, Randy “Obit” Inot, 29, at 2:30 p.m. in Sitio Mahayahay. Police also took into custody Rex Paul Colina, 43, and Juana “Nita” Ponce, 50, after the police decoy saw them bought illegal drugs and got sniffing parapherna­lia from Ugsang. A total of 12 small and three medium sachets of shabu worth P8,500 were seized from the suspects. / FMG

3 NO KIDNAPPING INCIDENT IN LAPU

The Lapu-Lapu City Government is asking social media users to stop spreading rumors on Facebook that a kidnapping happened in Barangay Maribago. Acting Vice Mayor Harry Radaza posted a Facebook live video to inform everyone that no such incident occured. He got several messages, asking if there was really a kidnapping in the city. “Senior Supt. Ronmel Cabagnot of Lapu-Lapu Police Office told me that there was no kidnapping incident,” said Radaza. In their Facebook page, the LCPO also denied the rumors. They asked the public, instead, to be vigilant. / FMG
