Indonesian boxer Yon Armed made a bold statement, saying that he will knock out undefeated Cebuano fighter Jhack “Golden Boy” Tepora in the main event of the Who’s Next? Pro Boxing Series at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino this Saturday.

The fast-rising prospect Tepora, who’s undefeated in 19 fights and has stopped 14 of his foes, including the last three, will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental super bantamweight title against Armed of Bandung, Indonesia.

“I can say I can knock him out (Tepora) on the fourth or fifth round,” said Armed through interpreter Jeffrey Pamungkas, who’s also the head delegation of Team Indonesia, during the press con- ference of Team Indonesia at the Mango Park Hotel yesterday.

The 30-year-old Armed (14-7, 6 KOs) said that he has prepared for the fight to bring glory to his country. Interestingly, Tepora snagged the WBO regional belt with a spectacular fifth round KO of Armed’s compatriot Galih Susanto last Dec. 2 at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

“I will fight well, I will show the Philippines how strong I am. I promise to bring the title back to Indonesia. I’m ready for this fight, my preparation lasted for three months,” he said.

Armed admits that Tepora is a tough cookie, and he’s aware of the knockout prowess of the Cebuano.

“I already saw his fights on Youtube. Tepora is good, fast and hard-puncher. I’m faster and we will play by the distance,” said Armed.

On the other hand, Indonesian Demsi Manufoe (11-6, 9KOs) will trade leathers with undefeated and power hitting Christian “The Bomb” Araneta (13-0, 11KOs) in the co-main event for the vacant WBO Oriental junior flyweight strap.

“I’m not expecting a knockout but I guarantee to fight as much as I can. He’s undefeated but record won’t matter in this fight,” said Manufoe.

Pamungkas believes that his wards are inspired to win their respective bout for the country, and he thinks they have the capability of the defeating their opponents. /
