7 DEAD IN TRUCK, CAR COLLISION

Seven persons were killed in a collision of a ten-wheeler truck and a car in Sto. Tomas, Batangas late Saturday evening. Authoritie­s said that a Toyota Corolla heading towards Sto. Tomas town was occupying the opposite lane of the road when it hit a truck on its way to Tanauan City from Calamba City. The incident happened around 9:45 p.m. along JP Laurel highway, Barangay San Roque, Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Police said the driver of the sedan vehicle was killed on the spot while his six companions, mostly high school students, died while being treated in the hospital. Among the passengers of the car were Paul Aldrin Geroy and Cesar Almario, both 16 years old and residents of Barangay San Miguel, Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Other victims are yet to be identified. Meanwhile, the driver of the truck was unharmed but was held at the Sto. Tomas police station for further investigat­ion.
