■ MYBUS A GAME-CHANGER IN CEBU'S TRANSPORT SECTOR

-

Cebu is where dreams are made of. And because of its fast-paced economy and arising infrastructures, the city needs an innovation on transportation system.

MyBus was first introduced to the public in 2015. It made quite an impact among the Cebuano riding public. MyBus is operated by Metro Rapid Transit System Inc. (MRTSI), a joint venture between SM Prime Holdings Inc. and Jam Liner Inc., a Manila-based bus liner.

With a 42-seating capacity, each European-made, air-conditioned bus is equipped with modern amenities. It has a ramp for wheelchairs and an area intended for persons with disabilities.

There are eight Mercedes Benz Conecto buses servicing Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) to SM City Cebu. The fare is only P25 for each passenger. For those going all the way to Talisay City, they only need to pay P75. They have to transfer buses at the SM City Cebu MyBus terminal.

For P200, one can purchase MyBus or e-Plus cards at designated MyBus terminals or at SM Cinemas. Each card includes P100 prepaid load.

The idea of mass transportation has always been a priority in urban cities with the aspiration of less traffic congestion and promotion of low emission.

Operations of MRTSI are at SM Seaside City Cebu, near the MyBus Terminal. It houses its state-of-the-art monitoring facility, a system which records and monitors the location and timing of each bus running on routes, keeping a hold on time of arrival and departure.

MyBus routes are from MyBus terminals to Mandaue to Mambaling, Talisay to Mambaling, Talisay to Mandaue, and MCIA to Talisay.
