DUMPIT GUARDS ‘RAGE’ VICTIM

AS LIM WAITS TO POST BAIL

- RVC

A lawyer for Ephraim Nuñal, the nurse who survived 2 gunshots last Sunday dawn, has requested tighter security for her client. Meanwhile, David Lim Jr. awaits the filing of charges.

SPO4 Adonis Dumpit, who used to guard Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, will watch over the nurse who remained in a hospital after getting shot in an incident of road rage last Sunday dawn.

The mayor announced the arrangement yesterday, after Ephraim Nuñal’s lawyer asked that the police officers who were guarding her client be allowed to bring firearms.

Meanwhile, David Lim Jr. spent a second night detained in a police cell.

His camp waited for Assistant Cebu City Prosecutor Maria Theresa Casiño to release a resolution on the frustrated murder and illegal possession of ammunition complaints against Lim. Casiño, however, explained the resolution she drafted still had to be reviewed and approved by Prosecutor Liceria Rabillas.

For two days, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña will assign SPO1 Adonis Dumpit to guard road rage victim Ephraim Nuñal while he is still admitted in a private hospital.

In his news conference yes- terday, Osmeña said he will continue giving tight security to the victim after he visited Nuñal Tuesday night.

Osmeña said that Dumpit will just see to it that everything will be fine while the victim is still in the hospital.

He will still have to oversee the peace and order in Barangay Ermita, though.

“The witness is afraid so I’m giving him Dumpit already,” Osmeña told reporters.

Lawyer Mundilyn Martin, who serves as legal counsel of the victim, wants authorities to provide stricter security to her client while he is still in the hospital.

Martin said police officers who are watching over the security of her client should be given firearms, so they can protect him in case of any harm.

For his part, Councilor Dave Tumulak said he already requested Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 to facilitate the request to the hospital.

Tumulak said that two wit- nesses of the incident, including someone who took the video also expressed worry on their security, particularly that the complaint against the suspect, David Lim Jr., was already filed.

Tumulak said the City has also provided them with security, especially after they relayed their sworn statement before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.

“They were shocked to learn in the news that the suspect was escorted by policemen and got VIP treatment,” Tumulak said.

On the reports that the video of the altercation between Lim Jr. and Nuñal was edited, Osmeña said he doesn’t believe it.

The one who took the photo, the mayor added, is not an expert in editing, that is why a reward for those who can provide full footage of the incident is not necessary.

Tumulak said there is no CCTV camera where the incident happened. The video from the dash cam of the other vehicle owner is the only evidence that can show what transpired. /
