The brother of a Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) personnel was arrested inside an alleged drug den during a buy-bust in Villa San Pedro, Tulay, Minglanilla last Friday night.

Police identified the subject of the operation as Adrian “Enting” Añabeza, 34, who repeatedly defied the Oplan Tokhang and is on the town police’s watchlist.

“He was already advised by his brother to stop his involvement in drugs. But he is already dependent,” said Supt. Dexter Calacar, chief of the Minglanilla Police Station.

Calacar said Añabeza’s brother, a Police Officer 1 in the Talisay Swat team, was thankful that he was caught alive.

He said Añabeza’s customers are local habal-habal drivers. Some come from far-flung towns who go to the drug den to buy drugs from him.

Calacar said Añabeza gets his drugs from Carcar City, but they are still verifying the information.

“We traced some contacts in his cellphone that his drug stash was from his suppliers in Carcar,” he said.

Also arrested were his alleged cohorts identified as Jovannie “Vannie” Sellon, 35, and Joseph “Amer” Alidon, 42.

Police confiscated two small sachets of shabu from Añabeza and P250 cash.

Añabeza denied selling drugs, although he admitted that he used to deal shabu a long time ago.

“It was before but now, I don’t sell anymore. I used to sniff shabu but I stopped and the last time I used drugs was on Tuesday,” he said.

Calacar said the suspect’s brother told him that he did everything to make Añabeza stop his illegal activity. Añabeza would just promise he would, only to continue selling drugs behind his brother’s back.

However, Añabeza’s brother will still be investigated to determine if he had any involvement in the illegal drug trade.

In Barangay Calamba, Cebu City, a 51-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son were arrested with P613,000 worth of shabu inside the Quijano Compound last night.

The Cebu City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) identified the suspects as Gema and Gemrob “Biboy” Bulambao.

The CDEU headed by Chief Insp. Cristopher Navida conducted the buy-bust against Gemrob, who was on the watchlist of the San Nicolas Police Station.

Confiscated from Gemrob’s possession were six large packs of shabu, while Gema yielded five small sachets and four large packs.

The total weight of the shabu confiscated was 52 grams.

Cebu City Police Office Director Joel Doria said selling drugs is a family business for the Bulambaos.

The arrested persons will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
