CEBU CITY BARANGAY CAPTAIN'S BROTHER YIELDS P1.3M WORTH OF 'SHABU'

After surrenderi­ng during the Oplan Tokhang, an ex-convict was arrested again last Tuesday night with some P1.3 million worth of suspected shabu. Sofronio Abellanosa Navarro, 45, the brother of Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City Barangay Captain Norman Navarro was caught by operatives of the Cebu City Police Office units during a buy-bust in Sitio Abellana in Barangay Suba. Sofronio is a high-value target and is said to have been under the slain drug lord of Talibon, Bohol, former policeman Owen Rosales.

The brother of Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City Barangay Captain Norman Navarro was caught in a drug bust at 11:20 p.m. last Tuesday.

Sofronio Abellanosa Navarro, 45, failed to elude the operatives of the City Intelligen­ce Branch and City Drug Enforcemen­t Unit led by Chief Insp. Cristopher Navida and Senior Insp. Narrolf Tan in Sitio Abellana, Barangay Suba.

The suspect, an ex-convict with a drug case, yielded 110 grams of white crystals believed to be shabu worth P1,298,000.

Cebu City Police Office Director Joel Doria said the suspect is a remnant of the slain drug lord of Talibon, Bohol, ex-police PO1 Owen Rosales, the prime suspect in the murder of Chief Insp. George Caña, Ubay Police Station chief last June 2014.

Sofronio was listed as a high-value target level 1 before the arrest.

He surrendere­d to Cebu City Police Station 11, but surveillan­ce showed he was still involved in drug traffickin­g.

Complaints of violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspect. /
