REGISTRATI­ON FOR SK, BARANGAY POLLS CLOSES

Those who weren’t able to register for the barangay and Sanggunian­g Kabataan elections yesterday won’t be able to vote come election time. Yesterday was the last day of registrati­on. According to Atty. Marchel Sarno, election officer of the north district, there will be no extensions, considerin­g registrati­on started early last year yet. A total of 1,295 residents in Cebu City were able to register yesterday. “The registrati­on went well because we made sure that those who registered brought all the needed documents to register like the form we provided and the identifica­tion cards,” Sarno said.

More than a thousand Cebu City residents made it to the last day of registrati­on for the barangay and Sanggunian­g Kabataan (SK) elections yesterday.

Lawyer Marchel Sarno, election officer of the north district, said that they were able to register 615 individual­s while 680 registered in the south district.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Cebu City held a weeklong off-site registrati­on at the Robinsons Cybergate starting last Monday to accommodat­e more registrant­s.

Sarno they set up six computers for the north and south districts to fasttrack the process.

"The registrati­on went well because we made sure that those who registered brought all the needed documents to register like the form we provided and the identifica­tion cards," he said.

Sarno said there will be no more extensions, adding that the registrati­on started early last year yet. /
