Armed men, shooting reported over land row

-

Operatives from the Talisay City Police Station went to Sitio Dawis, Barangay Tabunok yesterday morning to verify reports about armed men.

Lucinda Yungco had called the station and told the police that more than 30 men armed with M16 armalite rifles showed up at her property and allegedly threatened her security guards at gunpoint last Friday night.

Yungco and Dionesia Bacalso are contesting ownership of a 3,276-square-meter property.

The armed group said they were members of “NYPD,” which is allegedly headed by Rey Duterte Abad, a nephew of President Rodrigo Duterte.

SPO2 Jeffrey Diola said that when he peeked into the gate, he saw an armed man.

He called the latter’s attention, but the man ran and hid.

“If he was not doing anything wrong, why would he run? We came here because of the reports of armed men not because of their fight over the said property,” Diola told Superbalita Cebu.

According to Yungco, she inherited the lot from her parents and showed the certified true copy of the land title.

But Bacalso, in an interview with radio dyHP, said they are the rightful owners, and accused the Yungcos of faking the land title.

Tabunok Barangay Captain Samuel Bacaltos said that because of the tension in the place, tanods and police will patrol the area.

SunStar Cebu tried to contact Abad, but failed. /
