Robbers kill accountant near Calungsod church

-

An accountant who was on her way to distribute the salaries of construction workers was killed by unidentified assailants near San Pedro Calungsod Church in the South Road Properties yesterday afternoon.

Police said that Jennylyn Aquino, 25, was shot after she withdrew money from a nearby bank for the payroll of workers with Vescon Construction.

Aquino was on her way back to the office and had just disembarked from the vehicle driven by Arsenio Felboy past 2 p.m. when the gunman pushed her and tried to take the bag with the money inside from her. He seemed to have been waiting for her.

Aquino struggled against the gunman, who then shot her in the head and twice in her body when she did not let go of the bag.

The victim fell on the ground while the gunman managed to cart away the bag, which contained P700,000 cash.

Some bills fell and scattered on the road in the gunman’s haste to get away on a motorcycle driven by another man.

Aquino was rushed to a private hospital but was declared dead.

Police recovered an empty shell fired from a caliber .45 from the scene.

According to the Mambaling Police, Felboy, the driver, was questioned.

Investigators will consider the possibility of an inside job because the assailants knew when Aquino was arriving and what she brought with her.
