PRO 7 assured of assistance from local Muslims

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 reached out to Muslim communitie­s in Central Visayas as part of security measures following the siege of Marawi City by members of the Maute Group.

PRO 7 Director Noli Taliño said that they are in talks with Muslim leaders to help guard the region from the terrorist group.

"I already tasked our provincial and city directors to have a constant dialogue with our Muslim brothers. And they're very supportive of us," Taliño told SunStar Cebu.

The two men pledged to help the government with its war against terrorism.

Taliño said that they will also be on the lookout for evacuees coming from Marawi.

"We will take care of the security and it's up to the local government to welcome them," he said.

As for the possibilit­y of gun holders using their firearms to engage terrorists, Taliño said that the conflict has not yet reached the region, assuring the public that they are doing their best to maintain peace and order.
