Golf being one of the most played games nationwide, many members-only clubs hold their own tournaments with pride and joy that mainly make their members as exclusive participants partnering with their chosen guests.

Cebu Country Club has the Coral Tee, Bacolod Sinulog Tee, Davao’s Rancho Palos Verdes Pomelo Tee, Alabang Mango Tee and Manila Golf Club Golden Tee to name but a few.

The latest club to put up its own member-guest tournament is the Baguio Country Club (BCC) in Benguet Province’s famed Pines City on May 24-26.

“Nameless” in its first two editions, the tournament, besides being smashingly successful again, was finally named Dap-Ay Tee. ( Dap-Ay is a local word for a gathering of friends/relatives all seated while forming a circle— chatting, drinking, eating.)

A two-day event with a one-day practice round, Dap-Ay Tee’s second round best-ball was cancelled due to rains and lightning.

The completed first- day Scramble format served as the tournament’s official result, with member Bong Tabora and his guest Yancy Siladan emerging overall winners with 50 points, net handicap.

The other winners were Division 1 champions Pol Mayos-Benny Pul-oc, second Goody Ignacio-Boni de Castro, third Isonn Angheng-Edgar de Sotto; Division 2 champions Paeng Ding-Peter Go, second Charles Baguilat-Wilbert Tan, third Jay Co-Arnold Gunacao; Division 3 champions Benito Ang-Doy Mercado, second Quinn Dahilan-Louie Leganzo, third Alex Fores-Rante Bambao; and, Division 4 champions Derek Bautista-Carlo Baltao, second Richard Co-Chester Calpotura, third Mike Sy-Ramir Badua.

They all received lucrative prizes, including raffled items like branded watches Tissot & Longines, adidas shoes, BCC gift certificates and many more.

Baguio being hit usually by rains in May, officials had scheduled the 4th Dap-Ay Tee to April 18-20. God willing, see you.
