- RCM

Brothers Marc Glen and Mark Justine Nebril played crucial roles in helping Minglanilla score a repeat over Talisay Aqua Stars at the start of the South Division quarterfinal round of the 2017 Cebu Governor’s Cup 21-Under Inter- Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament in Samboan last Saturday.

The older Marc Glen scored 10 of his 17 points in the third period, while the younger Mark Justine scattered 11 of his 21 points in the second period to turn the tide around for Minglanilla’s 80-78 win.

Today, the action shifts to the North Division Quarterfinals with Mandaue City hosting Tuburan, Balamban, Bantayan, Bogo City and Consolacion. Mandaue will face Tuburan in the main game at 8 pm., while Balamban plays Bantayan at 5 p.m. and Bogo City faces Consolacion at 6: 30 p.m.

The Nebrils were aided by Jan Joshen Mangaron as Talisay City went right away to Jhiey Paraldo for a 23-22 lead in the opening quarter.

However, Mark Justine caught fire in the second, sinking three triples to help Minglanilla gain a 42-30 lead at the break.

Marc Glen took over the scoring cudgels from his brother and sank three triples in the third to lead a telling 20-16 blast that put Minglanilla ahead 62-56 entering the final period.

The Aqua Stars tried to clip the productions of the Nebrils but Minglanilla still had Mangaron and Jiesel Tarrosa who kept them afloat until the final buzzer.

Mark Justine Nebril led Minglanilla scorers with 21 points, Marc Glen Nebril added 17, Tarrosa made 15 and Mangaron finished with 14 markers. /
