Pros 'robbed, killed' accountant
Experienced robbers killed the 25-year-old accountant in the South Road Properties last Saturday morning, an intelligence official said.
Supt. Ryan Devaras, chief of the Intelligence and Detection Branch, said that the four robbers may have crossed paths with police before.
"They did not hesitate to kill the victim when she showed resistance against them taking the money. That alone, tells us that they are seasoned in these kind of things," he said.
The family of victim Jennilyn Aquino was represented by her father Arnold and her fiancè Teodorico dela Cruz during the turnover of her valuables, which were recovered in the crime scene.
The cash worth P274,735 was returned to the staff of Viscon Corp.
Some of the bills were coated with Aquino's blood after she fell because of gunshots to the head and body.
Arnold and dela Cruz were both grief-stricken by her sudden passing.
"I was in Bulacan when I heard the news that my daughter was killed. I entrust the matter to the police and we are grieving," Ar- nold said.
"Our family is trying to be brave in these times. It is just too sudden," he said.
He said his daughter moved to Cebu last year because of her job.
Dela Cruz, for his part, said they got engaged last April and were supposed to marry next year.
"The last chat I received from her was, 'Love, please eat now.' We had plans. all we needed was the wedding," he said.
Senior Insp. Eduard Sanchez, chief of the Mambaling Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that they are monitoring a recently-released inmate from the Cebu City Jail.
"He masterminded several large-scale robberies in the city. We are looking for him," he said.
Devaras said that a joint hot-pursuit operation is being implemented to catch the four robbers after a witness saw the plate number of their motorcycles.
"Our police are already tracing the address where the motorcycles are registered," he said.
The close-circuit television camera also captured the escape of the robbers, but it did not show a detailed profile of the suspects.
Devaras said that they've placed all workers in the construction site under investigation, adding that they are still at 25 percent in solving the case.
