Police yesterday arrested a security guard who allegedly took part in the payroll robbery over the weekend that left an accountant dead.

Archie Ando, 36, a security guard of an industrial zone in Lapu-Lapu City and employed under the Next Generation Agency, was arrested while at his post yesterday. He is a resident of Riverside, Lawaan 3, Talisay City.

Two other security guards were also invited for question- ing by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) investigators.

Ando reportedly admitted that he was the driver of the getaway motorcycle. He named three other security guards, one his brother and the two others his cousins, as part of the robbery. His stepson, Guillo Salinas Estudillo, 24, jobless, allegedly acted as the gunman.

The five men allegedly conspired in robbing accountant Jennelyn Aquino, who had just with- drew P760,000 for the salaries of Viscon Corp.’s workers at the South Road Properties in Cebu City.

Aquino, 25, was shot dead after she refused to give to robbers the backpack where the money was kept. Police recovered P274,735 cash on the road.

In an interview, Ando said that it was his brother, Ariel, an inspector of Viscon Corp., who masterminded the robbery plot. Ariel and Estudillo remain at large.

Ando asked for forgiveness

The Cebu City Police Office is digging deeper into the background of Ando and his alleged cohorts to find out if they were involved in other crimes; Police Regional Office 7 Director Noli Taliño commended the city police force for solving the incident after three days

from the family of Aquino.

Prior to Ando’s arrest, the joint team from the city police force’s Special Weapons and Tactics, Theft and Robbery Section and Homicide Section conducted a manhunt against the former and the rest of the suspects.

The manhunt led to Ando’s house in Talisay.

Police traced Ando’s address after a witness got his motorcycle’s plate number. After a coordination with the Land Transportation Office, police got his address, CCPO Director Joel Doria said.

Inside Ando’s house, police found a KG9 submachine gun, a caliber .45 pistol believed to be the weapon used in killing Aquino, assorted magazines and bullets.

Two pairs of expensive newly-bought running shoes, jackets, ball caps, bags, helmets, cellphones and a motorcycle fender were also confiscated.

The money the robbers took was not there. /
