A 16-year-old girl with special needs was allegedly raped by two construction workers inside her school in Barangay Centro, Mandaue City.

The Mandaue City Police Station 1 through its Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) filed charges against Remuel Maloloy-on, 20, and Gessard Agoncillo, 20, both from Barangay San Jose in La Libertad, Negros Oriental.

Maloloy-on has fled from the area. Agoncillo was detained.

Maria (real name withheld), who lives in Barangay Looc, is a special education student in Mandaue.

PO2 Leslie Toquero of Police Station 1 WCPD said that Maria visited the school to see a friend who works in construction at 9 p.m. last May 21. Toquero said the child had been visiting the area.

While waiting for his friend, Maloloy-on first approached Maria.

“Iya dayon ko gihuboan og (He pulled down my) shorts,” according to Maria’s affidavit.

Maloloy-on then abused her, Toquero said.

Another construction worker saw what the suspects did and reported it to the school guard.

Based on the result of the medical examination conducted at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, there was “no evident injury, but the medical evaluation cannot exclude sexual abuse.”

Charges of rape in relation to Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, were filed against the suspects at the Prosecutor’s Office at the Mandaue Hall of Justice.

Authorities were still looking for Maloloy-on.
