Payoneer gives SMEs chance

-

Cross-border payment service provider Payoneer is working closely with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to promote rural impact sourcing and plug in more small and media enterprises (SMEs) into the global digital business.

“Now is the time and chance for our SMEs to level up in terms of servicing international clients,” said Miguel Warren, country manager of Payoneer Philippines.

He said the government’s program on rural impact outsourcing aims to grow the country’s pool of digital entrepreneurs, and they are now going around the country with the DICT to spread awareness on the growing online digital business landscape in the countryside and promote easy cross-border transactions.

Warren cited the perceived difficulty in dealing with online payment service providers as among the factors that prevent SMEs from spreading their online businesses abroad or catering to international clients.

Finding a trustworthy cross-border payment provider that executes on-time, reliable and cost-effective payments is crucial in the growth of any business, may it be outsourcing, online selling or freelancing, said Warren.

Some 300 SMEs interested in exploring global opportunities attended the third Payoneer Forum in Cebu over the weekend to learn about online global business opportunities and easy cross-border payments.

“Small BPOs (business process outsourcing firms) and search engine optimization agencies in the Philippines have long used other options to receive funds from international clients. Payoneer can help them receive more pesos through lower fees and higher foreign exchange rates, while offering additional ways to receive cross-border payments,” said Warren.

Payoneer’s presence in the Philippines from 2010 to 2015 penciled in 230 percent growth in registrations and 307 percent in volume transactions. Last year, this global financial technology firm based in New York opened its first office in Manila in Bonifacio Global City. Its clients include Google, Amazon and AirBnb.
