Mactan Rock gives water system to Brgy. Cabadiangan

-

Residents of a mountain barangay in Compostela, Cebu now have ample water supply.

This, as homegrown bulk water supplier Mactan Rock Industries Inc. donated a level III water system to Barangay Cabadiangan.

Level III system means piped water supply with a private water point (house connection) based on a daily water demand of more than 100 liters per person.

The water system, with enough capacity for 500 households, was constructed by Mactan Rock years ago as part of its Barangayan. It is a project in partnership with the barangays aimed at providing accessible and affordable water supply to village residents who have no water, or are affected by scarcity of water.

The project started with over 100 family-beneficiaries, and up until now it has not reached its full capacity.

“We see the need to bring water to more households in the barangay and we feel it is better for the LGU to manage and operate the facility so there will be no service interruption,” said Antonio P. Tompar, Mactan Rock’s chief executive officer.

The donation was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiative, and in support to the Compostela Government headed by Mayor Joel Quiño in their quest to provide basic services to constituents, Tompar said.

He said that the Cabadiangan water system is expandable. With a few additional equipment and minimal adjustment, the facility can produce more water to cater the needs of more residents.

Quiño, along with Vice Mayor Josephine Abing Cabadiangan barangay officials led by Captain Prisco Antolijao, received the donation.
