For the second time this year, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 is set to temporarily close the Tabunok Flyover in Talisay City for repair.

Engr. Lesley Anthony Molina, DPWH Second Engineering District head, told reporters that that they will be installing expansion joints on the flyover.

While the materials for the needed repair are on its way to Cebu from Korea, Molina said that they have yet to decide when to conduct the repair of the flyover.

Molina said that the DPWH 7 is coordinating with the Talisay City Government on how the schedules of repair will be done. The work could be done within 15 days, with 24-hour working schedule, or have one lane closed to traffic with a repair period of 30 days.

Lotlot Tulda of the City of Tali- say Traffic Operation Development Authority told SunStar Cebu that the office will map out a rerouting scheme for the repair, which will be submitted for approval of Mayor Eduardo Gullas.

The flyover repair will cost P20 million, and it will be implemented by PLD Construction.

Earlier this year, DPWH 7 also temporarily closed the flyover for asphalting works, following complaints from some motorists of huge potholes causing dangers to passing vehicles.

When the repair was made last March, passenger buses going to and from southern Cebu were rerouted to the South Road Properties.
