Bogo dumps Bantayan

Bogo City went ballistic in the first two quarters and cruised to an easy win over Bantayan, 91-85, in the North Division quarterfin­al round of the 2017 Cebu Governor’s Cup Inter- Cities/Municipali­ties at the Bantayan Sports and Cultural Complex in Bantayan Island.

Earlier, Christophe­r Isabelo sank four of his five triples in the second period as Mandaue City romped to their second, 92-63, over Balamban in the opening game, while Consolacio­n Sarok got its second win, 91-77, over Tuburan.

Tonight, Minglanill­a and the Dalaguete AgriSaurs will battle for the early lead in the South Division in the main game at the Minglanill­a Sports Complex at 8 p.m., while the Talisay City Aqua Stars face the Toledo City Energy at 6:30 p.m. Siempre Samboan and Barili will play in the opening game match.

Meanwhile, Bogo City opened up its campaign by leaving Bantayan in the dust to lead 31-19 in the opening quarter, before padding it by 21 points at the half.

Despite the efforts of Bantayan to reverse the outcome of the game, Bogo’s huge lead at the half was enough to keep them afloat despite getting outscored 29-15 in the fourth quarter.

Justine Valenzuela led Bogo City with 15 points, Augustin Salundagui­t and Johndel Balazuela added 11 points each, and Michael Vincent Sendrome had 10. John Ray Caracena scored the game- high 26 points and Romeo Sumbi Jr. and Joshua Renz Ortiz contribute­d 10 points each for Bantayan Island. /
