‘Jeff will explode’

- EKA

Though most think that it is a mismatch, Australia-based Filipino Czar Amonsot feels that undefeated Aussie Jeff Horn could actually give Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao some trouble with his right hand after a 10-round sparring session the other day.

“Jeff is explosive,’’ said Amonsot in a report posted at The Courier-Mail website. “His right-hand lead is fast and powerful. That’s a punch that could give Pacquiao a lot of trouble.’’

The southpaw Amonsot, a former ALA Boy, is one of Horn’s main sparring partners along with former world champion Zab Judah, another southpaw.

The 38-year-old Pacquiao, an eight-division world champion, is defending his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title against Horn on July 2 at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.

Pacquiao’s sparring mate, unbeaten Aussie prospect George Kambosos Jr., feels that Horn won’t last against the legendary Pinoy fighter and is going to be knocked out.

Pacquiao already moved his camp from Manila to General Santos City.

Pacquiao is also sparring with Mexican up-and-comer Adrian Young and Pinoy pugs Sonny Katiandagho and Leonardo Donorio.

Pacquiao is 59-6-2 with 38 knockouts, while the 29-year-old Horn is 16-0-1 with 11 knockouts.

International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight king Jerwin Ancajas (26-1-1, 17 KOs) fights Japanese challenger Teiru Kinoshita (25-1-1, 8 KOs) in the show’s main supporting bout.

Pacquiao’s cousin, 19-yearold Jonel Dapidran (8-1, 4 KOs), is also fighting in the undercard against Aussie Brent Dames (5-3) in a six-rounder. /
