Diaz’s uncle caught in drug raid

-

One of the uncles of the late drug lord Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz was killed in a shootout Saturday night with local policemen who were conducting a buybust in Barangay Balirong, City of Naga.

Edgar Diaz Lampaog died just before he reached the Minglanilla District Hospital after sustaining several gunshot wounds.

At 7:30 p.m. last Saturday, operatives led by Police Supt. Gregorio Galsim conducted an operation against Lampaog, who was identified as a high-value target.

The operatives were conducting the buy-bust operation inside Lampaog’s house when the suspect noticed that the buyer he was dealing with turned out to be a policeman.

When his suspicion proved to be true, Lampaog immediately pulled a .38 caliber pistol and started firing at the operatives.

But policemen were able to fight back against Lampaog, hitting him several times.

After the shootout, Glenn Cabunillas, who was with Lampaog at that time, was arrested.

Another companion, a certain Kevin Chavez, was able to elude arrest.

The police to recovered a .38 caliber pistol, a .45 caliber pistol and a hand grenade from Lampaog’s possession.

Also recovered were two large packs and two small packs of suspected shabu.

In a separate interview, Galsim said that Lampaog was reportedly conducting operations within the provincial level.

But Lampaog often eluded police detection as he transferred from one area to another.

Galsim said they plan to coordinate with other intelligence units to determine how far Lampaog’s operations have gone. /
